captjamieway: John and Aeryn are frelling hot! (country - martina)

I got Martina McBride's new album (Shine) tonight and it's already on it's 4th time around (which means I really like it), lol. So far, my favorite songs are Wrong Baby Wrong Baby Wrong, Sunny Side Up, Walk Away, What Do I Have To Do, Don't Cost A Dime, Ride, You're Not Leaving Me, and Lies. Shh, I know I just named like 3/4 of the songs. I guess if I would have to pick one favorite it would be Wrong Baby Wrong Baby Wrong.

But yeah, ♥.

Yay! I'm finally just now hearing Martina McBride's song "Rose Garden" (it's an old song redone by her). I haven't been listening to the radio much before now.. so it took me a 'lil while to hear. Anyways.. I just got back from my Aunt's house a few hours ago. We went to visit her, my uncle & my Grandpa for the weekend. It was fun. I'll post more tomorrow.. I'm tired.

I love this song my Martina McBride. It's on the "Martina, On Target" CD. The song's called "Being Myself". I wanted to share the lyrics.

Being Myself
Sung by Martina McBride
Written by Brett James/Hillary Lindsey/Troy Verges

Sometimes i'm an ordinary girl
Wrapped in my ordinary world
I just wanna listen to the rain
And stay in bed all day

Other times i'm extroverted
Speak my mind and I don't worry who
Might disagree
Or what anyone might say

I don't listen to the critics
Believe in all the cynics
I don't need that kind of advice
I'm doin alright

Just bein' myself
That's all that I can be
Happy bein' me
Don't really wanna be nobody else
I know who I am
And the one thing I do well
Is just bein' myself yeah yeah

I can be the drama queen
Wear my emotions on my sleeve
Sometimes
I know that i'm a little hard to handle

Other days i'd rather stay at home
And have the world leave me alone
I just need some space
Just a little space

I've got my share of problems
And I may never solve em
But in the end I know i'll be fine
'Cause i'm doin' alright

Just bein' myself
That's all that I can be
Happy bein me
Don't really wanna be nobody else
I know who I am
And the one thing I do well
Is just bein' myself yeah yeah

I don't listen to the critics
Believe in all the cynics
No I don't have the time
I'm doin' alright

Just bein' myself
That's all that I can be
Happy bein' me
Don't really wanna be nobody else
I know who I am
And the one thing I do well
Is just bein' myself yeah yeah

Just bein' myself yeah yeah
Don't really wanna be nobody else

I've been working really hard on my music lately. I wrote the lyrics of a song yesterday & the melody of a (different) song today... & I've been really putting forth the effort to practice on the guitar lately. I know this is what I want to do with my life. I want to be involved in music in someway.... whether it be a singer or a songwriter.

Hmmm.. what else have I been up to in my 5 month absense from this journal. Oh, I turned 21. Yeah, it wasn't really a big deal. Don't get me wrong, I had a great birthday.. it just wasn't this big deal that it is for a lot of other people because I don't really care about any of the things that you have to be 21 to do. On the day of my birthday I went out to dinner with my mom & dad & then to celebrate with the rest of my family I went to see Joe Diffie & Scotty Emerick & then we went to Sonny's to eat.

I went to some other concerts between the last entry & this one too. I saw Joe Nichols, Lorrie Morgan, Jo Dee Messina, & Alan Jackson in late January... Trace Adkins, Joe Nichols (again) and Brad Paisley in March. Joe Diffie, Scotty Emerick and John Anderson in April... and Josh Turner, Cowboy Crush, Terri Clark & John Michael Montgomery in May. I don't have any more concerts lined up though until at least September.

I've recently gotten into the hobby of scrapbooking. I've been making these little (2-10 page) themed scrapbooks & I think they're turning out pretty well.

All of my tv shows are over for the summer & now there's nothing to watch. "Smallville" left us with a cliffhanger & I'm really upset that "Enterprise" did too. I know it's normal, but the whole season of "Enterprise" has been like one big cliffhanger so I thought it would have been nice if they gave us a break this time. I'd like to report that both of my picks for Nashville Star (Brad Cotter) & American Idol (Fantasia Barrino) won. So far I've picked Kelly, Ruben, Fantasia, Buddy, & Brad. Unlike, Kelly, Ruben, & Buddy though.. I'm not really attached to Brad or Fantasia. I think that they are both talented... & although I think that they both deserved the most to win out of the final few people, I'm not really into either one of their styles. I also think that AI runner up Diana DeGarmo is very talented and actually like her style better than Fantasia's (I just think that Fantasia made fewer mistakes throughout the competition.. so that's why I voted for her). I am sort of ticked off with AI though because I think that the best talent got voted out of the competition way too early (namely Jennifer Hudson & Latoya London). I think that they & Fantasia should have been the final 3 (& I don't know who should have won out of them... I would have had to of seen the other 2's later performances to see how they would have held up). But anyways... both American Idol & Nashville Star were very different for me this year because right away in the previous ones I knew that Kelly, Ruben, & Buddy were my favorites.. but it took me awhile to establish a favorite in this season's.

While I'm on the subject of reality tv.. may I say that Survivor really ticked me off this season? They repeatedly ignored the threat of Rob & Amber & let them win. My only consolation is that Rupert won a million through the fan vote. I would love to be on Survivor if it weren't for the bugs/reptiles & the fact that I am totally uncoordinated & not athletic. I always say that if they ever do a Survivor - Alaska (or Antartica, I'm not picky, haha), I'm there!

While I'm talking about the things that bug me... let's talk about the ACM Awards (American Country Music Awards). I was really upset that Brad Paisley was not even nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year. He has had a really great year and totally should have been in there! Also, I am upset that Toby Keith/Willie Nelson's video beat out Martina McBride's "Concrete Angel" & Brad Paisley's "Celebrity" video. Oh yeah, & I'm also upset (see how these things just keep piling up & piling up?) that neither Buddy Jewell or Josh Turner won Top New Vocalist. I can sort of understand how Josh didn't win because he's still pretty new. But I thought that Buddy really deserved it. I do like Dierks Bentley too (he won), but I thought that Buddy should have taken it home. Now that I've gotten all of that off of my chest, may I add that I'm really GLAD that Martina took home 2 awards (Female Vocalist & the Home Depot Humanitarian Award). GO MARTINA!!! I'm also glad that Randy Travis got an award (I can't remember if it was song of the year or single of the year) for "Three Wooden Crosses". If it would not have been for Martina & Randy, the night would have been a bust.

I'm gonna go before I can think of anything else that bugs me, haha.

Only one day left before 2003 is gone & 2004 is here. I had a really good Christmas. I did catch a bug a few days before Christmas & am just now finally getting over it, but it didn't keep me from having fun on Christmas. We always open presents Christmas morning at our house & then we drive down to my oldest sister's house to spend Christmas with the rest of our family. When I was little, opening presents used to be the most fun thing but for the past some-odd years I have really enjoyed spending the day with my family most of all. Don't get me wrong, the presents are way fun too, lol. But I think if I just got to open my presents at home, & didn't get to see the rest of my family, it would take a lot out of Christmas (nothing can take away from the true meaning of Christmas, but you get the idea).

Speaking of presents though, I finally got a DVD player & yes... you don't see it often on here but the Trekkie in me is about to come out. One of the main reasons I wanted a DVD player is because the Star Trek: Voyager DVD's are going to start coming out this Febraury. I can't wait! Right now I only have 3 DVD movies ("Finding Nemo" & a couple of Bob Hope/Bing Crosby Road movies) & some DVD Music Videos (Kelly Clarkson & Martina McBride), but I am looking forward to building my DVD collection. You will see me by that $5.88 DVD bin at Walmart often. Lol.

I also got Ruben Studdard's CD & I am impressed. It's going to take a little getting used to because I honestly don't really listen to R&B... but he's got some good stuff on there. I especially like the last track "We Have Not Forgotten". This is the... 5th CD I've gotten from a talent show contestant this past year. I've also gotten the debut CD's of Jake Simpson (Star Search winner), Kelly Clarkson (American Idol 1 winner), Buddy Jewell (Nashville Star winner), & Clay Aiken (American Idol 2 contestant). I would personally rate them (in order from Best to Worst):

Buddy Jewell
Kelly Clarkson
Ruben Studdard
Clay Aiken
Jake Simpson

The first 2 are almost a tie... they both have really awesome songs, awesome vocals.... What broke the tie for me is the fact that Buddy put his record out in almost no time flat. I have no idea how he did it so fast but the quality is as good as somebody who took 2 years to put an album together. I have, however, listened to Kelly's CD more... probably because she's a girl, I'm a girl, & her CD is really fun to sing along with. I dunno, they're pretty much a tie, it's so hard to choose. I'm gonna shut up about that now.

Hmm... this reminds me of the fact that I never got Justin Guarini's CD... there's another thing on my list of things to do.

Something that has been on my mind all day, that shouldn't be on my mind all day because it's not really an earth-shattering thing... but it really annoys me, is that Alan Jackson & Martina McBride (both of whom I love to death) are touring together next year (2004) and they don't have ANY FL dates listed. They have like 3 dates listed in several small states & it seems so unfair. I want to see them both so bad. I am so disappointed. I hope they add some FL dates or I am going to have a pity party & you better watch out or one of you may be invited (haha, Michelle, Jennie, & Becca.. you already have been). On the bright side though... 2 of my favorite artists (Josh Turner & Joe Nichols) are going to be touring together with Brooks & Dunn. AAAAAnd, Brad Paisley & Joe Nichols are going to be at Sea World on the same day. These are 2 must see shows for me. They're like just about as perfect as they can be... unless you replace Brooks & Dunn with Brad & then they would all be in the same place at the same time & that would be 100% perfect... But NOTHING is perfect... so I'll settle for almost perfect.

If anybody has actually read this whole thing.. this means 1 (or more) of 3 things.. either 1st, you're really bored... 2nd, you're putting off homework... or 3rd, you're just a good friend and actually care what I have to say/think.

Whatever the reason is, thanks :)

Here's to 2004!

I have not been diligent in posting here at all... but I'm going to try & get back to it.. I really love my LiveJournal.

Happy Thanksgiving to everybody! I hope you have a great one. I'm going down to my sister's house, like we do every year. Today I am going to bake cookies to take down with me.

I am really excited because I recently got tickets to see Martina McBride's Joy of Christmas Tour. I really wanted to go last year but they never came down to FL... this year they are finally coming down, and although it's a little out of our way... there's no way I would miss it.

Gonna go eat lunch now, later.

I forgot to mention that I got my faaavorite artists brand new CD today (technically yesterday, but whatever... I got it on Sept 30). It, of course, is "Martina" by Martina McBride. It is soooo awesome! I think the song "How Far" is especially beautiful. Gosh, if you don't have the CD yet, go out & get it now! Ok.. not now.. because it's late, lol. But get it soon, you wont regret it!

I haven't really been keeping up with this very well at all have I? But believe it or not.. I am keeping up with this much more than I have any other "diary" or journal.

I have come to the conclusion today that I am pretty bored with most of the message boards I have been frequenting. I have met some people from one in particular that I will still like to keep in contact with.. but I doubt many people will see me around the KCMB much anymore (not that I ever went around there much... but you can cut the time that I used to go there probably in half). It seems as if most of the regulars that I used to see posting around there don't anymore.. & the people who do, seem to be sort of cliquish & I have never been one to fit into cliques... plus I haven't really seen a topic that I have been really interested in lately. Don't get me wrong... I think it is still probably the best message board I have ever belonged to... but it just seems... different than it used to be.

Let's see... what else is up... Oh yeah, I got a summons for Jury Duty a little while ago. Can you believe it? I know at least 3 adults over 40 who have never gotten one in their lives.. yet they want me to go. They even pulled my 18 year old niece (who wasn't even out of highschool at the time) in. I was really surprised when I got it... I guess I never really expected to see one...

Martina McBride's new album is coming out this-coming Tuesday. I am really excited about it. She doesn't release new music all that often compared to other artists. Her albums are usually about 2-3 years apart... & her last album was a Greatest Hits so she only had 4 new songs on it. It will be great to have some new songs to play over & over & over & over again in my CD player... lol. Oh! & Josh Turner (one of my fav new artists) is releasing his album in October. This is going to be a good next few months for CD releases. Really this has been a great year period for music. Kelly Clarkson released her album earlier this year, along with Billy Gilman, Jo Dee Messina, Jimmy Wayne, Brad Paisley, Buddy Jewell, & Suzy Bogguss. Not to mention all of the American Idol/Juniors CD's I have gotten. May not seem like a lot to some people... but I have gone some years only getting like maybe 5 CD's a year (not counting Christmas). I know that this year I have already doubled that.

Ok... I'm gonna go now...
